  1. The term acoustics in general, means the
  2. experimental and theoretical science of
  3. sound and its transmission, in particular
  4. space such as a room or theatre. In 
  5. architecture, the sound-reflecting 
  6. character of a room or hall. Acoustical
  7. engineering is concerned with the technical
  8. control of sound, and involves architecture
  9. and construction, studying control of
  10. vibration, soundproofing, and the 
  11. elimination of noise. It also includes all
  12. forms of sound recording and reinforcement,
  13. the hearing and perception of sounds, and
  14. suprisingly, hearing aids.
